Angela Neal Brooks, EdD
Dr. Angela Neal Brooks began her career in nonprofit residential settings working with adolescents in at risk families and DCS custody prior to entering community based mental health where she focused on SPMI and co-occurring disorders. Dr. Neal Brooks has an Ed. D in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University as well as an MA in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. Dr. Neal Brooks is passionate about helping others navigate their way through the stressors of daily life using a strength-based approach. Dr. Neal Brooks also has experience working with families, case management, alcohol and drug abuse, crisis, and SPMI (severely and persistently mentally ill) populations. The key to the therapeutic relationship is mutual respect, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. Dr. Brooks’ approach to therapy is routed in CT (cognitive therapy) and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). These approaches are built on identifying cognitive distortions or dysfunctional thoughts to change behavior. In order to change behavior, we must address the underlying thought process.
