Kyla Mutterspaugh

Kyla Mutterspaugh is a second-year graduate student at Carson-Newman University pursuing a dual degree in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. Kyla works as a School-Based Mental Health Liaison for Jefferson County schools. Her work with elementary to high school aged students and their families over the last five years has deeply shaped her insights into the unique challenges individuals face in and outside the classroom and home. She has worked with children and adolescents as a nanny and tutor, providing a safe and supportive environment for children to learn, grow, and explore their interests in fun and creative ways. Kyla believes all behavior is a form of communication and desires to help individuals and their families understand and identify emotions and enhance relationships. She believes people are stronger than they give themselves credit for and believes everyone is capable of change.

Kyla is certified in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She enjoys Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and adjusts her therapeutic approach to fit the individual needs of clients.
