Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

Our staff specialize in a variety of topics and treatment methods to allow us to meet every client wherever they may be. ABHS consists of a closely connected core group of therapists who collaborate and support each other’s professional goals. We provide paid clinical supervision for pre-licensure clinicians, a yearly continuing education/materials stipend, paid training in evidence based practices, paid orientation to the position, flexible scheduling, and our administrative staff provides insurance credentialing and support in client management, scheduling, and billing. PTO and benefits are also available for full time staff.


The primary function of this position is to provide infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) Consultation to early childhood serving agencies in Jefferson County, Tennessee.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with local childcare providers including DHS licensed, DOE licensed, and family-based childcare providers in Jefferson County

  • Provide observation, evaluation, collaboration, feedback, and treatment plans for identified children as needed.

  • Complete associated Consultation trainings as required or deemed necessary.

  • Develop and provide training and technical assistance to childcare centers as requested or deemed necessary.

  • Engage in community impact projects, collaborative meetings, and local support projects to promote awareness and utilization of IECMH Consultation.

  • Provide similar services to Elementary age students in Jefferson County as deemed necessary.

  • Ability to travel daily to different early childhood serving agencies as required.

Reports to: Director of Statewide Initiatives with daily oversight by Director of East Tennessee Programs

Minimum Requirements: Master’s in Counseling or related discipline. Must be eligible to obtain temporary LPC within six months of hiring. Must be committed to seeking independent licensure as an LPC-MHSP within a reasonable timeline. LPC-MHSP or related licensure is preferred. Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds. Proficiency in Microsoft OFFICE, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience working in a medical and/or clinical setting is preferred.


Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting professional knowledge and demeanor in all forms of communication. Ability to build strong rapport with children, adolescents, and families quickly. Capacity to work individually and in a family context. Ability to remain calm and effectively manage crisis situations. Capacity to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team. Capability to collect data and engage in appropriate feedback.
