Child & Adolescent Therapy
Navigating childhood and adolescence can be hard. Typical developmental tasks, parenting expectations, school expectations, and making friends can all create stress and conflict in childhood and adolescents. Children and adolescents can also experience their own mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or may have experienced traumatic events. Our clinicians approach individual therapy with children differently based on each child’s needs. Some children may prefer to have sessions with or without caregivers in the beginning or throughout therapy, although caregivers will always be involved with the therapy process. Older children and adolescents often use therapy sessions as safe, private spaces to work through emotions independently. Please note in Tennessee, people age 16 and older are legally protected to make their own mental health decisions. If you are a caregiver interested in therapy for a minor and your child is 16 or older, they will need to call our office to make their appointment and complete their paperwork.
